Constructing a robust P. putida platform for biofluorination and in vivo testing of synthetic biofluorination pathways

WP3 exploits 3 engineering approaches (i.e. bioengineering of the bacterial chromosome, stable genome insertion of the synthetic biofluorination pathway and evolutionary engineering), yielding a P. putida cell factory in which biofluorination becomes part of primary microbial metabolism. This unique, multi-tiered metabolic engineering approach will ensure that bacterial growth is coupled to the formation of key fluorometabolites from synthetic metabolic modules, thereby harnessing the power of natural selection for generating efficient cell factories for biofluorination.
